We are so excited to see what this new year brings.
We had a wonderful time at our annual Christmas Party held at the Rocky Ridge Fire Company. The ladies auxiliary and all those who helped them, did a fantastic job with the meal and serving. We had 3 winners from our raffle that day. First prize winner of the quilt was Marilyn Heffner, the 2nd place winner of $100 was Leroy Talyor and our 3rd place winner of $75 was Earl Powell
I would like to take this time to Thank the local restaurants that provide our delicious lunches each week. Thank you to Bollinger’s Restaurant, Fratelli’s, Mountain Gate Family Restaurant, Rocky’s and Kountry Kitchen. You are providing wonderful meals for the seniors in your community. You have no idea how much your generosity means to us. You are making it possible for our seniors to have a great satisfying meal at a cost they can afford. Come out and have a delicious lunch with us. They are served every day at 12:00. We would love to share a meal with you. Please call the day before to sign up for lunch. Menus are at the center and online on Facebook and our website thurmontseniorcenter.org . We couldn’t do it without the local restaurants support. Can I also say if you aren’t out supporting our local restaurants, PLEASE make it a point to. They all do so much for our community.
We would love for you to join us for Yoga on Monday’s and Zumba on Friday’s they are $5.00 a class or 8 classes for $24.00 We also offer a free balance and strength exercise session daily, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday beginning at 11:00-11:45. We play Pinochle on Tuesday at 1:00, We have Bunko on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 1:00 and Farkle on the 4th Thursday at 1:00. Thursday’s at 12:30 we are playing dominoes We also play Bingo every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month, if we have a 5th Wednesday, we have a special Bingo. It is always a fun time full of laughter and special homemade treats for halftime. I can’t forget to mention our coffee time on Tuesday’s at 10:00 am. Truthfully, we always coffee at the center and we are told it is the best, so come in and have a cup with us. Friday’s, we have Poker and 500.
As a reminder with winter weather setting in, if Frederick County Public Schools are close the Thurmont Senior Center is Closed. If there is a two-hour school delay, we open on time.
Don’t forget the Thurmont Senior Center is available to rent for different activities such as a baby shower, a birthday party or a bridal shower.
