The old saying, if you love what you do you will never work a day in your life, is absolutely true for me. We have an amazing town here in Thurmont and I am so blessed to be a part of it. I also have to mention the volunteers at the center, they do an awesome job. I would also like to send out a great big thank you to Thurmont Kountry Kitchen, Fratelli’s, Mountain Gate, Rocky’s and Bollinger’s restaurants for your delicious meals and your support of the center. We are very lucky to have such wonderful restaurants giving back to our community. There is so much to be thankful for. I asked the seniors to write down some things they are thankful for at the center. Here is what they had to say:

October was a great month we had wonderful Bingos, a pot luck lunch and a very successful Colorfest yard sale. Thank you to all who donated items for us to sell. Also, thank you to those that donated their time to work at the yard sale, Carol Long for organizing it, Gerri Foster, Juliana Brown, Susan Berry, Donna Righter, Kristen Bodmer, Ruth Heaney, and our high school helpers we called the Jewels; Pearl, Julie and Julia. The winner of the crocheted infant blanket and Vermont teddy bear was Jane Savage. The $50.00 winner was Gloria Schreiber and the $25.00 winner was Bobby Myers. Congratulations to all. We do have a Christmas raffle of a beautiful queen size quilt and money prizes as well. Tickets are available at the Senior Center.
The Thurmont Senior Center is looking to update our sign out front. We are looking at getting a digital sign. We could use some help. If you would like to donate, please send your donation to the Thurmont Senior Center, 806 E Main St. Thurmont MD 21788. Every little bit helps. We are a self- funded 501 C 3 organization, we have applied for grants specifically for this and were able to get a portion of what we need but we still have a big portion to come up with. We thought we would look to our community to see if they would be willing to help out.
