September 2023 News

September Senior Moments By Kristen Bodmer For those going back to school we have some advice from the Senior Center: To ALL students returning to school, If, you see any of the following:
  • A student struggling to make friends
  • A student being picked on
  • A student who is new, shy, or not with the “in crowd”
  • A student who is eating lunch alone
BE A LEADER, BE A WARRIOR say hi. Smile at them. Ask if you can sit with them, include them. You never know what that person is facing, inside or outside of school. Have a great 2023-2024 school year. Summer is coming to an end and we are ready to welcome Fall with the beautiful leaves changing colors and crisp breezes blowing.  We will be spending time together laughing and playing games and would love for you to come join us. August was another fun filled month.  Three successful Bingo’s.  We had many card and dice games played and lots of food shared.  We enjoyed our monthly birthday party with Patty and Brent Progecene performing at the monthly birthday party. Looking forward to celebrating September birthdays on September 21st at 12:30. On that day don’t forget that Marie Free comes in at 10:30 for seated massage.  She charges $1.00 a minute for our seniors. We will be having our monthly fundraiser at Roy Roger’s on September 14th, 2023 from 5 -8 pm. Come out and see us and get some delicious food as well as our phenomenal goodies. Speaking of fundraisers, we are having a raffle for a Schwinn Trailway Bicycle that was donated to the Center.  Tickets are available at the Center for $ 1.00 a ticket.  It is a very nice bike with a helmet.  We will carry that fundraiser through until our Colorfest yard sale on October 12, 13, and 14th We will begin taking donations for the yard sale at the end of this month.  If you have larger furniture please wait until the day before the yard sale to drop it off, we just don’t have the storage space. We would love for you to join us for Yoga on Monday’s and Zumba on Friday’s they are $5.00 a class or 8 classes for $24.00 We also offer a free balance and strength exercise session daily, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday beginning at 11:00-11:45. Thursday’s at 12:30 we are playing dominoes We also play Bingo every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month, if we have a 5th Wednesday, we have a special Bingo. It is always a fun time full of laughter and special homemade treats for halftime. Of course, if you know me, I can’t forget to mention our coffee time on Tuesday’s at 10:00 am.  Honestly it is coffee time any time the center is open so come in and have a cup with me. Friday’s, we have Poker and 500. Come out and have a delicious lunch with us. They are served every day at 12:00.   The meals are $6.00 each.
