You are always among friends when you come in whether it is to participate in an activity or to just sit and have a cup of coffee. The bonds of friendship are strengthened each time you come in. If you are feeling lonely or disjointed from the community, come in and make new friends. Our arms are wide open to welcome you in.
We had a great January. Filled with lots of laughter and fun. We had our crocheting group, exercise classes, Bridge, Pinochle, Bunko and Farkle games, special music, coffee, treats and of course Bingo games. Make sure to pick up a calendar because there is always something fun happening here at the Thurmont Senior Center. Don’t forget it is free to join the center.
In December we started a gift table with items that were donated by others. This table served as a “store” where the seniors could buy gifts for someone without needing to go out to a shopping center. We have decided to continue the gift table throughout the year. If you happen to have new or like new gift items that you do not want or need, we will take them for our table. This way our seniors can have a place to shop to get gifts without having to go to the stores.
We would love for you to join us for Yoga on Monday’s and Zumba on Friday’s they are $5.00 a class or 8 classes for $24.00 We also offer a free balance and strength exercise session daily, Monday-Thursday beginning at 11:00-11:45. You can come once a week or every day. We have Bunko on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 1:00 and Farkle on the 4th Thursday at 1:00. We also play Bingo every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month, if we have a 5th Wednesday we have a special Bingo. It is always a fun time full of laughter and special homemade treats for halftime. Of course, we can’t forget our coffee time on Tuesday’s at 10:00 am.
Remember we have delicious lunches served every day at 12:00, the meals are $6.00 each. We would love to share a meal with you. Please call the day before to sign up for lunch. Menus are at the center and online on Facebook and our website thurmontseniorcenter.org The Thurmont Senior Center is available to rent for different activities as well. Like perhaps a baby shower, a birthday party or a bridal shower.
Just a reminder if Frederick County Public schools are closed due to weather the Thurmont Senior Center is closed as well. If they have a 2-hour delay, we will be opening at our regular time 9 a.m.
